Eligibility
Any non-delinquent, healthy boy or girl 14 to 17 years of age may become a Devil Pup. The program is at Camp Pendleton for a 10-day encampment. Those applying for the program must pass a physical fitness test prior to being accepted into the program. Devil Pups liaison representatives make the selection from the qualified applicants.
Devil Pups are accepted from all walks of life, regardless of race or creed. The most important factor in the final acceptance process is the applicant’s desire to become a Devil Pup.
Through the program, Devil Pups learn to live with each other day to day and learn the concept of working together as a team, regardless of background, race or creed.
To pass the PFT, a candidate must reach a minimum score of 175 points, 400 points maximum. Also, keep in mind the minimum score is overall; each event has a maximum score of 100 points for each of the four events. You need a combination of points from all four events to reach the minimum score. The four events are: pull-ups (boys), flexed-arm hang (girls), maximum number of crunches in two minutes, maximum set of push-ups, and a timed 1-mile run.
All prospective Pups will be disqualified if they:
